If and when I would make the move to Saudi, one question is whether pets are allowed on the Dahran compound. I have a medium-sized dog that I would like to bring over. And coming from the US, how would I get her down there? Does Aramco take care of arrangements such as these?
Somebody must have had a similar question.

lots of info on the forum about bringing in pets. YES, dogs are allowed in Dhahran. There is a list of banned breeds on the Saudi Embassy website.
bringing in any pet is your responsibility. Aramco gives you the procedure for bringing in your pet, but getting all the paperwork done is up to you.
Be sure to check with the airlines for their requirements too.

o
Yes there is a vast amount of information concerning bringing dogs into KSA - also I would highly recommend contact an agent in the US who brings dogs/cats into KSA - one important point is that it is best to travel with your pet - certain months of the year are not allowed i.e. summer months owing to the heat etc - also do check out all the airlines - KLM in particular are excellent with moving pets from one country to another.
Good luck Carolina

o I also have another contact for you from a recent new hire that brought his two small doggies over from Houston and they were not flown to Dammam airport but straight to Ryiadh airport where the new hire drove to collect them - but as I have stressed do use an agent but try and travel with your dog much better that way. Here is the direct link: dana@petmovers.com seemingly this person is extremely efficient and very helpful. Good luck Carolina

Hi all - Re: the small dogs issue.
I recently received a response from a very helpful woman named Biljana at MoveOne (see below). She can help Canadians with their pet moves, whereas Dana at petmovers.com cannot.
Biljana agreed that I could share her advice and her email contact. She was referred to me by Dana (at petmovers.com - see Dana's original note below the one from Biljana).

to me
Yes, Dana mentioned you will be contacting me.
Toy breeds can still be imported in Saudi Arabia if a local vet statement they are used for guarding or hunting purposes. Usually if a vet states the family has the dog identified with the chip number xxxxxx is a guard dog for the family home, signed and stamped by the vet-as long as the import permit is issued, there are no problems to import even toy breeds.
At present we can assist with import of dogs through Riyadh only, and have them delivered to anywhere in the country via road-in air-conditioned vehicle. So far we have assisted significant number of Aramco Employees with their pets imports, and had no issues, except that it sometimes happens that the original vaccination records get held back by Riyadh customs.
You can certainly share our company details and my own e-mail address with any of your colleagues and friends. We would be glad to offer assistance in Saudi Arabia or in any of the other countries we cover.
I hope I replied to all of your questions. If there is anything else you may need, please feel free to ask.
Thanks and have a lovely day, Biljana Popandonova Move One Pet Transport"

I’ll be happy to help you if I can. First, can you tell me how you plan to fly your dogs? Will they be with you in cabin of the plane, checked in as excess baggage OR flown as manifested cargo? Next, tell me what airline you are using and the routing (any stops you would be making)?
First, the Administry in Dammam will NOT issue a permit for any ‘small’ or “toy’ breeds as they call it. I have gotten all of the Aramco employees with small dogs in through Riyadh only. I’m not able to help with your paperwork because you are in Canada but if you are interested in flying into Riyadh instead of Dammam, I can get you the name of an agency there who may be able to help you on that end of things. It will be helpful to know however on how you plan to fly your pups because this information will matter in what services you will need on the other side.
Look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks Dana "
