o to all Ras Tanura residents
All residents are being fully checked for their water lines in Ras Tanura - I wish to make it clear not to let them into your house - we have been hassled this week 3 times and today was the same - my husband has phoned their supervisor 3 times in the last few days and he has confirmed that his staff do not need entry into any of our homes - someone came to my home yesterday asking for entry and he did not even have his ID on him so of course I did not allow him to enter and the same today although this time I did not even answer the door.
I have lived here in harmony for the last one year and I have never come across this very heavy handed approach - I feel that my privacy has been violated.
We have no problem if they ever wish to enter our home but it must be when my husband is present and by appointment only.
Anyone in RT having the same issues?

Nope, I saw them come by last week, and turn on the outdoor faucet and write something down, then moved on.

ditto...
Caroline: did you call and complain about the water tasting funny? Maybe they just wanted to check the valves in your gae to make sure everything is in check and nothing faulty is going on. No harm in that, and probably just wanted to help you out. But I do agree, they should come by appointment.

No issues here. Maybe someone called in and reported a violation.

Yes someone called in my neighbour as she thought the quality of her water was not good and seemingly there was something wrong with her sweet water - so another problem as they have told her the sweet water is only running at 90% quality instead of 100% - my friend lives in a compound in Khobar and she told me that they are all on sweet water seemingly in fact all compounds in Khobar run 100% on sweet water.
Anyway that heavy handed approach at my front door was very upsetting that is for sure - I will never answer my door to any of them unless a firm appointment is arranged and my husband is present also to always ask for their ID.
Maybe because we have a very small water fountain at the front they did not like?? can't think why? saw them looking at it or rather inspecting it.

in which way have they been heavy handed? If they have been physically or verbally threatening towards you, you should contact security to have it dealt with.

I learned recently that there is a problem going on in camp in a specific part of the camp with the sweet water. That being said, Aramco maintenance must do their job in making sure this problem is fixed asap. If it means going to houses unexpectedly to check something or other we as residents should meet these people half way and co-operate. Though 99% of the time maintenance does come by appointment only, I guess for you and maybe others this was the rare 1% of the time that they needed to come by to fix a widespread problem. Co-operation and working well with others are key to living longer in this compound in harmony

Yes I heard this as well (but they have been asked to check every single home in Ras Tanura) - but while I have read your comments very carefully - this heavy handed approach was not allowed nor were these people allowed entry into our home - and this has come from the supervisor of the Water Department - he stressed and stated to my husband that NO ONE should have either asked which nationality we are and they should not have asked for access into our home - so this assurance came from the Supervisor of the Water Department - I have felt for some time that our water was not right (raw water) and seemingly our neighbour has had problems with her raw water and sweet water as well - seemingly they can't get the sweet water right back to 100% only 90% so it continues to be a problem.
I am always fully cooperative with anything of this nature but when someone comes to my front door and is heavy handed and he cannot produce any ID - who would allow this person to enter into their home.
The situation is now closed and the person in question has been reprimanded.

Aramco has a regular schedule for checking fountains in DHA. They check it for mosquitoes regularly here. probably do the same all over.

I wonder if Aramco Utilities will make the water testing results public.

I wonder where to get the water quality report for the camp sweet water. Such information should be avaliable somewhere ... right?

I am actually thinking of taking a sample back to Scotland for testing when I go next month both of the sweet water and the other water (raw) just to get some independent results.

it is available, we just had a lecture on the water in Dhahran thru one of the self directed groups.
Call Community Services, they would most likely be able to give you a name and who to contact or be able to find out for you who talk to.

It was relating to the sweet water supply. I had my sweet water checked nearly 3 months ago and a follow up 2 days ago. My sweet water had a conductivity of 10 times the allowable limit, in short the sweet water supply had be cross contaminated by raw water. After discussing this with the guy who came to test the water this week it appears three residents had abused the sweet water supply and by all accounts will be fined and reported to housing!

They do these checks from time to time. Some residents have taken it upon themselves to re-plumb the water lines inside their house to force sweet water through the raw water pipes. This is a violation of Aramco rules and procedures. If they discover that a resident has re-plumbed their home in violation of the rules, the fine is (if I recall correctly) $1,000 and is automatically deducted from your salary. I know someone who wa with this penalty, and they have since retired. They complained about the penalty, but were still stuck paying it. The same is true for folks who re-wire their house by using a unauthorized electrician without written permission from Housing.
