I am sure that your husband's input and experience would be quite valuable to this discussion.

Hi Everyone, I'm going to chime in on working for Aramco, raising a family and enjoying the Aramco ExPats experience.
From the beginning of Aramco there have been employees and their families that have loved living and working in Arabia OR accepted living and working in Arabia OR disgruntled and miserable by living and working in Arabia. This is just life no matter where you live.
I have known many more people that are happy with their lives than unhappy in Arabia. First of all, just considering getting on an airplane and taking a position in a faraway country takes a special type of person who most likely enjoys the more exciting part of life. They are people who want to learn about different cultures, enjoy an adventure, want to have a happy life and are secure in their professional environment. If this is not you, if you are miserable that you must leave 'home' (talking on the phone or Skyping is no longer a problem), don't have an adventuresome spirit and a positive atude, stay home!
Coming to Arabia and working for Aramco is a privilege for both you and Aramco. The vetting process is long by both you and Aramco employment. They want employees who come to Arabia with the idea of staying a few years, who will be professionally stimulated and whose families will be happy.
My suggestion has always been, there are so very many contented people working for Aramco, Do Not become involved in a group of people/friends who are always negative! It is amazing how quickly one can be deluded into thinking life is better somewhere else or my job would be better elsewhere. I had a very wonderful friend (past away) who use to say, "... If you are that unhappy, there is a plane leaving every day."
I tire of reading a one person tirade on working for Aramco. Find another job! The world is full of them right now!
By the way, this forum is not Saudi Aramco, ASC, AOC or any other branch of Aramco. We are independent.

From reading Mr. Barlow's posting history on this forum, ...he's a prolific writer I say! In any case, he seems to be having/had a bad experience. As adults, we should weigh every post carefully. No one individual's post will stop me from coming to work for aramco. Your own experience is going to be totally different and only you can decide. I am really grateful to all the folks that post here and a big thank you to the moderators/creators of this site. I find it incredible that you can find a forum about a company you want to work for. Try that with a company in the US and the lawyers will immediately shut you down.

Mr. Barlow DOES work for Aramco - and he is enled to his opinion on this forum just like anyone else. Potential new employees who use this site would like to read ALL opinions so let's not single people out for special attention just because they have a different view. Your opinions are based on your husbands experience of Aramco and not directly from the daily work environment but ALL comments and opinions are extremely valuable and useful for people to see the complete picture.
Best regards Buster

Depends where you live.
I found myself being on the move over 12h a day (ABQ-DH_ABQ) spending 3h less with my family than I would do in the west. All in the hourly wage is less than i would have received back home.
However, if europe ends up in the hole for the next decade it ain't that bad.
Look at it as a retirement ticket.
