Hi all,
Having read some older posts on prejudice towards people from South Asia, I want to hear what people on this forum think (especially those working there or have in the past). I am a US citizen of South Asian origin and wondered if I & my family would be treated any better. I would like to hear from other South Asians as well. You can also PM me as well. Thanks.

I am in the same boat as TheDude and I had similar experience as well. Even, I noticed that all over Saudi Aramco, including Saudi Aramco Schools. This is just my obersvations. I stopped ignoring these aspects and carry-on with my own circle. Everyone is not accepted everywhere. At the end, who cares.....

"TheDude", you are funny  My question was with respect to the treatment in SA. I have lived in the US for 20 yrs and never experienced any discrimination (yet! touch wood). I'm not naive, sure there's probably some of that in some states. I just don't want to deal with this on a daily basis..that is not cool.

Hi folks, How would you compare working there versus with a KBR/Halliburton/Fluor? If one is making 150k household in the US, is it still worth a stint there for extra savings potential?

Hmm...what happened to post by "TheDude"? I don't mind discussing this off the board if it is a sensitive topic. Thanks

We are Americans originally from south asia. I do not agree about the schools! My children have it much better here than back in the States. The avee classroom can be quite a global mix as are the schools in general. If your children don't mix in well here it is not because of the other children! This was not the case in the US. There is a hirearchy though, similar to the states, though generations ahead of our birth country.

o to you all
Yes this is a very sensitive issue and one that should be addressed with great respect.
Ok here it is from my point of view : I have lived with my husband in 9 countries in 12 years so I feel kind of qualified to answer this one - if you expect this then it will happen - it will! but if you stay open then you will find there are fantastic people working and living here in Aramco and the Kingdom for that matter what I am trying to point out is Aramco are a multi relations company to work for and the teachers in all of the Aramco schools are highly dedicated to their field and used to teaching children of ALL nationalities and colour.
My neighbours here are simply fantastic from all different countries, colour and personality for that matter and I am happy to state that we live in complete harmony.
So my sincere advice is learn be open and enjoy working for Aramco and incidentally I noted you mentioned Halliburton which I used to work for and so in Halliburton I too worked with many different nationalities etc and simply loved it.
We have this fantastic opportunity so do stay positive!
Kind Regards Carolina

Carolina, you make some very good points. Although I have to say I have many friends in the region and they do bring up this issue time to time but they have learnt to live with it.
