Hi, looking for someone to PM with offline regarding the ins and outs of purchasing/renting-to-buy a new vehicle in the Dhahran/Khobar area. We've heard some conflicting info about the process and what to expect, so I'd like to connect with someone who has actually purchased in the past year to get some feedback on what we've heard. We're looking at a Toyota or Hyundai, crossover/SUV type. We're trying to understand the process as it compares with purchasing a new car in the US. We have Arabic language covered; I understand that can be an issue sometimes. Thank you.

We just purchased a new Kia Sorento from the dealer in Khobar two weeks ago. It took about two weeks start to finish to get the car. It was five trips to the store but other then that wasn't a bad process just a lot of trips. Trip one was to pick out the car and order it. Trip 2-payment of car Trip 3-pick up a piece of paper so we could get insurance Trip 4-take insurance back Trip 5- Pick up the car
You have to show insurance before you can get the car. There are two places in the new building that can do it the same day. AAA on camp take a week or more to get but if you are willing to drive into Khobar can be purchased the next day. Let me know if you still have questions.

Three trips and 2 weeks - Mazda dealer in Khobar. One to pick out car, one to pay (they provided insurance), and one to pick up car. Great dealer. Greater after sales service.

Two trips, 2 weeks: First was a long 3 hour trip mainly because we haggled on pricing, features etc, once decided, paid the full amount with a personal check. Three days later the dealer emailed us with Car details (Chasis# etc), took that to local insurance agent (Tawyunia) and got insurance and had them fax it to the dealer, week later went to pick up the car.
