Hi Expats!
I am a mechanical engineer with Masters degree but do not have oil/ gas industry experience. Currently, I am in Canada and am in early stages of thinking to find a job with Aramco in SA. I have following qs if someone could assist please..
a)- I worked in US, got laid off and than found a job in Canada. I am curious to know if “ASC” (the U.S.-based subsidiary of Saudi Aramco that recruit in N. America) perform a Job/ work background check from our SSN?
Do they ask to provide SSN at any stage of hiring? Should we provide this confidential information?
b)- What kind of specific check they do…I guess a background check could be any of these: criminal record check, work experience check, back ground check, credit check etc..?
Take care and thanks so much!
Ed

Hi Ed,
Hope this would help you find some answers. I just recently moved here and been here for 3 weeks. This how the process in the recruitment in Saudi Aramco: 1. You apply for the job online filling up forms and electronically sending it. 2. Once they get your resume and application forms, they would look at your qualifications for the job you applied for. Then if they like what they see in your resume, they would email or call you. I got both. 3. They would set you up for interview/s. Mine was done once via video conference. The date and time they would give you for the interview depends on their schedule here. They gave me several days to choose from. 4. Then after your interview it might take a few weeks before they decide. This probably depends on how many people applied and got interviewed for the job. Mine took 3 weeks. 5. After that they told me they would like to hire me. Then they sent me several documents which included the compensation package and contract, forms for the background investigation, and medical questionnaires. 6. You will then read your contract and compensation package and decide whether to take it or not. I think some people negotiated their compensation package. I didn't have to since they match my salary from my current US salary. 7. You will then send all the documents they send you.
Now go back to your question. Yes they would require all of your information including but not limited to your SSN. I sent my passport copies, driver license copy, my professional licensure copy, educational transcripts etc.
ASC from Houston hire outside agency to do your background checks. So be honest with all the forms that you fill up. I have to declare my traffic violations, short sale of my previous home and even my bankcrupcy in the past. They really did thorough investigation on mine. I forgot to declare my car accident years ago and they were able to trace it.
The point also is your background and medical investigation would come later during your hiring process which I think is the same as applying any job anywhere.
I hope my long answer help you at all.

Dalyguy,
How long did it take them to contact you after you submitted your application online (as you describe in point 2 of your post)?
I have submitted an application a month or so ago, but heard nothing. Should I assume that I was not selected?
I appreciate your response.
Thanks

Dear All,
I am already working with a sister company of Aramco here in the western region. Prior to my mobilization here from ASIA, the agency told us to fill out the BI form of ARAMCO. After which I submitted the hard copy to the agency. It took us three month to be deployed here in KSA due to various reasons. And without any idea if the BI process already commenced.
When our batch arrived here, we have heard and confirmed as well that a couple of expats were sent home due to the BI. It is until now a big scare for us when we hear that a certain person was axed due to the BI. Should a certain person fail, BI personnel immediately informs the company of the person while when there's no problem, they keep silent. Things like educational & work background are top things that are quite sensitive for the BI process.
My questions are;
1. How does the BI process work? Prior to our deployment or during our 90 day probation period? 2. How many times will we be investigated? 3. How will we personally know if we passed?
Whoever can answer this clearly, I'm now sending you my sincere thanks.
bless,
sundown
