I called the Saudi Embassy and they said we don't need an import permit??? They had no idea about one. This is very confusing! It is the only thing I have not done and we leave in less then two weeks, so my stress on getting our pets there is high. Can anyone give me contact information for someone to get this import permit. I have called the vet in Jeddah, emailed and faxed them with no answer. Is there anyone else who can help? Thanks so much Liza

Thanks vpainter. I have emailed her and called her three times now and the one time I got her, she said she would call me right back and never has. I called our relocation agent in Houston and she actually has a copy of the import permit. I am working right now to get her the paperwork needed, and hopefully she will work this for us. Aramco used to help with the permit, but it became to much work so they shoved it off for us to do alone. I told her we would have to delay our departure until we can get our pets taken care of, so hopefully she will help me move fast. This has been the hardest part of this move! So much stress.

Curious as to how you talked your relocation specialist into obtaining the import permit for you. Wish we had had your person, not ours!
The mystery surrounding obtaining an import permit from afar was one key reason we didn't bring our cat with us -- that, and the heat embargo in place when we relocated. (We would have had to fly the cat with one of the family members in coach, as pets were not allowed in business class, and they wouldn't fly the cat as excess baggage or cargo in the heat.) The Aramco relocation guide did not even address the issue of an import permit, and when I had tried to contact the Jeddah Vet Clinic via email from the States to get their help with the permit, I never heard from them. If you can advise how you got your relocation specialist involved in obtaining your pet import permit for you, I'm sure there would be a lot of new hires who would appreciate some tips in this regard. We miss our cat dreadfully, but fortunately, she's living with extended family who now adore her, so all is well for kitty. The import permit was such a stressful detail at the last minute for us. Had it been easier to get it in place, we might have sucked it up and flown coach to bring her with us on the plane. It got too complicated, so we lost hope.

Well it turned out that our relocation agent was ready to help but her contact in Saudi was not authorized to get it stamped for us. This has pushed us back 3 days. We ended up getting a relocation gal to help us get it. She is working it now, we should have it by the time we leave. Arriving on the 26th now!
