So does anyone actually swim in the water at the beach...? Also, no fishing? well thats a shame....fishing is a good way to pass the time.

Yes people do swim in the waters at RT. They hold triathlons here and they swim in the water then too. Fishing is allowed but in certain areas.

Thats great, Happy New Year to You and your family and friends...
If I pass the checks, Ill pack my fishing rod.....not too keen on triathlons myself...maybe after giving up beer for 6 months
Swimming before and after work would be nice.......any nasties in the water..? hot sea and jellyfish abound usually.
Pity we cant all have jetskis!

I was told no boats or jetskis. Hmmm I was interested to take a fishing kiyak...it would be good for exercising too.

You cant launch jet skis off the beach, but people do use them at the yacht club (on the far side of the camp past the hobby farm). Im assuming you can use kayaks there as well. On the regular beach you cant have any types of boats, they wont even allow sail boards .

In RT, it is nice the yacht club is on camp and your boat readily available there.

What about a surfboard?
They have too many rules!

If you've ever tried to swim off a beach where they allow unfettered use of jet skis, boats, sailboards etc, you would be glad of rules to restrict their use.

Spent 20 years as an ocean lifeguard in Florida And I still wish we could use small craft (sail boards and such) off the normal beach. Jet Skis no, but sail boards, paddle boards, and kayaks would be nice.

You could always become an advocate for change. Work with recreation and whomever so that non motorized crafts/boards could be used. You never know, it could happen!

I have seen people use surfboards & paddle boards off the public beach area - especially near the beach houses. I have also seen the same boards used at the yacht club too! There is not too much watercraft activity where a person using a paddle board or surf board would be affected at the yacht club.

Yeah, I know several with the stand up boards, Ive been thinking of getting one myself. A few of them have been talked to by security however.
I did talk to security one day and the lifeguards. I was told it wasnt a safety issue so much as a security issue, though I still fail to see where a surf board (stand up or otherwise) is a hazard. There's no place to hide anything! lol. That may be able to get changed as there was no such thing when the rules were made. I dont see kayaks being changed as they are boats and I was told that was something to do with security not just with the camp but with shipping.

Nope, there are rarely enough waves for surfing here, however...
On a good windy day there is an outside break over some of the reefs. It would be rideable on a kayak or stand up board for a few seconds, but not on a normal surf board.
Kayaks and standup boards are used more for the exercise, the scenery, the alone time, or even to fish. Standing up on a paddle board allows a great view under water and is a solid core workout out (and can even be an arm work out). Sitting in a kayak is more of an arms/shoulders workout and doesnt provide the visibility, but is still relaxing.
