I just received my pre-departure orientation PDF and noticed that it may not be that easy to have family visits if you stay on camp as a bachelor in a 1BR. If I understand correctly, these are subject to SA approval, and I assume that that would mean that you'd need sufficient beds to accommodate wife and children?
Then there is also the issue of timing, because I won't be able to leave the country until my iqama is issued, and I probably wouldn't be able to obtain a tourist visa for the family within the first 2-3 months because of that? I was quite keen on flying the family in for a visit within the first three months but it sounds like that it quite difficult unless we stay in a hotel off-camp. Can anyone confirm this?

1. Do you know it’s a 1br? If you are gc 15 or above it will be a 2 bed house. 2. If they are eligible for a tourist visa then your iqama is not important, although you’ll probably have it within a couple of weeks anyway. 3. You do need permission to have guests, for them to get a badge and access to the buses etc but there is also the signing in every 72 hours option.

Thanks - housing not yet confirmed but I'll have my call tomorrow to hear more about the relocation experience. I'd be super happy with a 2BR but I'm not counting on it.

If you're staying in RT, there are guests houses you can hire rooms in, like a hotel. I have friends on bachelor status who have had family visit and stay at the guest house.

I'll be staying in Dhahran - hope there will be something similar there. Good memories of RT, had some great camel mandi there! :-)

Yeah RT is a great community, I'm very lucky to be able to stay here I looked yesterday, thinking there might be and saw nothing. But, that might because I live here. I reckon community services will know.
