Hi all,
I'm traveling next month to KSA and planning to take a couple of heavy duty plastic boxes with personal items as extra luggage on my flight from the UK to Dammam via Bahrain with Gulf Air. Airline seems to be fine with it but mentioned this is subject to the Airport's approval.
Has anyone done this recently? Are the boxes handled fine or should I expect damage?
Thanks

I’ve not done it but where I volunteer I see these boxes in a regular basis, donated to us and in good shape, assuming you mean the large heavy duty tubs. You’d have to really tape them shut and people write on them in sharpie, big letters, name, address and also “Dhahran camp, c/o Ar***o, badge number”.
Safe travels

I use 20 gallon Rubbermaid action packers as a regular part of my luggage and have been doing so since 2019. No problems with KLM or Delta. I suggest using a ratchet strap to keep the lid on. I don't know what similar products are available in the UK. Some plastic totes are made from brittle plastic and will crack in transport.
