Hi everyone - I have gone through all the threads regarding vacations but I am not sure I found a particular response to one of my doubts. For instance, in your first six months of employment, is it authorized to take 5-6 vacation days or do you need to complete one full year of work to start to use your vacation days?

There is no official requirement to work a year to take leave, as far as I know. However, a lot of departments encoue most leave to be taken in large blocks. People also quite often book their leave for the entire year in January, so if the department requires cover you might find yourself unable to schedule. This is certainly a thing for people trying to book over school holidays.

Even during your trial period you can use your vacation, but it does require approval of your supervisor. I never really figured that requirement out, as your vacation days need supervisor approval anyway!
"Operational requirements" do come into play and you may find that there are issues for you getting peak periods like the Summer or winter school breaks as Saudi colleagues want them also.
Your days are awarded pro-rata, so if you start July 1st you will receive 1/2 your allowance for that year. As to not taking for the first year - no such requirement. You can "carry over" up to 15 days with supervisor approval. I carry over around 10 days each year just for emergencies.

Depends entirely on your boss, some are more accommo......... than others. You may also find that approved leave gets cancelled at late notice! Just something to be aware of.

Vacation is not necessarily guaranteed anymore. I know of some that have resigned because they had holiday booked and their manager “cancelled” their approved leave literally days before…It just comes with the territory I’m afraid! Something to be mindful of alongside all the other factors.

No requirement for expats to leave the country to renew iqama. I was told we had to leave to renew. This is in their contract I believe. Interesting to know since they kept touting the vacation days.

To trigger repat payments for yourself I guess SAP requires 14 days "L" time plus your travel days. That 14 days was the only requirement to leave Kingdom - now you just need to take the required days vacation.
Used to be that you and your dependents had to be in kingdom to renew Iqamas which led to kids flying in from boarding school for a few days just to renew.
90 days before expiry you get notification to renew from HR. Your family can be renewed whilst outside, but their visa end date never will extend beyond their Iqama. I guess you need to be here at renewal altho never tried that way.

You can extend single exit/re-entry visas for dependents while they are outside of the Kingdom, I've done this. Once you renew their iqamas, submit a request to extend the visa expiry. Very easy to do.

Try to avoid taking holidays during your probation. Seen many departments that accept only short leave to bring your family to KSA.
You can carry forward all your leaves to the next calendar year during your first year of employment. From the second year only certain (usually 10) days can be carried forward to the next year.
