Hi,
could you please advise when does Aramco advise you to resign from your previous company?
Is it before or after your medical test in KSA for Iqama?
If its before, then it would kind of be risky to resign from your previous company and then risk of not getting through the medicals (you or your dependents) in KSA.
Thanks!

You'll be advised when to resign by relocation advisor, you'll recieve it in a formal letter. It is before you arrive to KSA, generally once you visa is issued and flights are booked.
The Iqama medical is pretty much the same as your visa medical in your home country.

I would recommend you resign after you board the flight to KSA. Anything before that is risky. Back in 2020, Aramco canceled offers, and some people lost their job because they resigned from previous companies.

There is always a risk with Aramco that they will renege last minute and leave you high and dry. Leave it as late as possible.

Thanks.
It is just really difficult to not to resign from your company once you are already in KSA for many days.
If I inform my company while in KSA, they might ask me to come to the office for resignation interview, etc. or to submit back my laptop, so it is really tricky.

If that is the case, my suggestion is to resign one day before you board the flight. Once you are on the flight, you are officially working for Aramco and being paid. There will be compensation if Aramco cuts you off afterward. You don't have to be nice to your company. Remember when the company lays you off, it will usually ask you leave right away.

How does this work if you have three months notice to your existing employer? This is fairly standard for professionals.

Outside the US it’s common to have longer notice periods, especially in senior roles. I had a six month notice and Aramco waited ( I was up front about this point in interviews),in my case I did five of them before amicably agreeing to move from my old place. I was fortunate that Aramco kept their word, others have been less fortunate. It’s definitely not worth burning bridges over IMO.

Be carefully! After 6 moths in the process and providing documents to issue my visa to move to KSA in a one month, I was informed by RA that my process was canceled with no explanation and reason. I’m very frustrated with Aramco.

Resign when they tell you to. Not before
