Thank you for adding me.
I know that one can drive on their home licence for 3 months before needing a Saudi one. I was wondering if driving on home licence only on the camp was allowable after those 3 months? Or if you still have to convert?
Thank you

In camp it’s fine on your local licence. Don’t believe there is a time limit. Different rules apply to the rest of Saudi. You still need insurance and the vehicle inspection to be valid though.

Is it allowed to drive there with International Driving Permit (IDP 1968)? I believe it’s a year. Although you cannot buy a car unless you have a Saudi licence. And, as McShane said, I was allowed to drive on camp with my home licence, no issues but I was not insured without a KSA licence once I’d been in Saudi for 3 months. Fortunately the rules changed and women with eligible licences can just switch now, same as the men.

Whats the process and how much time to get a Saudi licence? Get iqama and bank account Create absher and sadad account Put approved country licence in for translation (assuming it’s not already in Arabic). Get eye test The fastest you can probably do that is a month. Book appointment, these can be scarce. Some people get one in a couple of days, others wait longer. Just luck.

Depending on what country you are coming from, you might have to take a driving class and test in addition to the items noted above. Also if you are engineer you will have to join Saudi Council of Engineers before you get your Iqama, and before you can open a bank account you need to have your national address registered. Go to Aramco post office to make sure your address is registered.

the appoints with the traffic office are taking a month to schedule for the regular DL conversion. If you are in a country that needs to take the classes it will take longer

Do you need to re pass all the exams and driving test or you only need just to converted to local license ? Thank you

So what you are saying is: Bring your USA driving license and the Arabic version of it. Submit some forms and picture ID plus pay application fees and you get your SA driving license. Without redoing any driving test or exams.
Sorry for repeating myself again. I was reading something different in few links from google.
Thank you again

When you arrive and after you have your iqama, give your American driving licence to al-fifa and ask for it to be translated to Arabic. They'll send it away, then once you have it back, do the driving test medical, make the payment in SADAD, book the appointment for transferring a licence in Absher, you won't have to do any tests as the laws changed a year ago. Only needs transferred. Some countries do however need to do full tests etc, but I know USA, UK, Canada don't.

With regards to eye test, if you wear glasses do you get to give the eye test with the eye glasses on?
