Just wanted to get the census from people who had luck negotiation their base salary. Is Aramco open to counter offer on their revised offer or is that pushing my luck? So after the initial offer, I countered as it wasn't sufficient. They up the offer but not to the point as I was expecting. Has anyone been in this scenario and what was your experience?

US, technical services, Current Gross salary in the range of 200 - 220K USD. What should be the range of base salary from Aramco for GC 13? Aramco should be able to match your gross salary, after including the expat premium for GC 13.

They gave me an offer of something that's close to my current base pay plus a 24% expat premium. So that's much lower than the 30-40% I've been reading about. I think it's because I'm already fairly high in my current pay according to market. GC14 level. I'm negotiating for a 20% increase in pay and GC15. Hi Kalbigrill, I am in the same situation as you. I would really appreciate it if you can PM me with any guidance. Thanks

Got a question on how GC works out. GC13 is ~15-20 years, GC14 is 20-25 yrs experience, and GC15 is 25-30 years experience? Is that how it's "allocated" in general? Another question is on offer negotiation. I'm genuinely confused by some responses in the forum. Is the general experience that Aramco will only give ~60% uplift (total package to total package comparison including health insurance benefits, air ticket allowance, kids education allowance, overbase, supplements, bonus, iqama fees, housing fees, entry exit visa fees, and zero tax)? Some people keep talking about 'base' to 'base' comparison and the details are all lost in the wash. If we do the maths simply, if one person gets taxed say 35% on their total (let's call it US$250k package for now), in their current job they'll get $162.5k. If Aramco gives $250k package (tax-free), then it's going to be 250/162.5 = 54% uplift on a net take-home pay. Hence, a few of you had been saying it's mostly just a tax benefit that Aramco is giving nowadays? That’s exactly it. Just a tax saving, which is still a significant amount if you come from a place that has high income tax rates. For me I was on ~GBP220K base, and Aramco offered the same amount converted to USD at the prevailing rate at the time… In my case, they are offering me around 20% less than the base and told me it's the final offer. What are my options? Many thanks

If it’s not an overall offer you would accept then you’ve nothing to lose by countering. Whether you say no or they say no, end result is the same.

Counter if you are not happy. It's a negotiating tactic they like to employ saying its a final offer. Joining for 20% below your current base isn't worth your time IMO.

Thank you guys. Specifically, my tax questions are:
1) Per the offer letter they said Expat Premium and OCD are "Tax Protected Payment". Does it mean that Aramco will pay tax on these items instead of me?
2) What about EAP travel allowance, Repat travel allowance and bonus? Which items are tax protected and which is not?
3) From the spreadsheet they sent with offer letter, they reduce the paycheck monthly of Hypho tax amount (in addition to federal income tax withholding). Will i be getting back this hypho tax or shall i just assume this hypo tax is just like federal tax withholding? i.e. these two taxes are total tax that i am due to pay?
thnx. JH

I am not sure if your gross base is over 200K. You should only consider your gross base in the USA for the negotiation. Aramco does not put additional income in the equation. If you gross base over 200K as GC13, and 13 yrs of experience, what they offer is max for years of experience. I am not sure how much they will go higher in the negotiation. I know people in your shoes, did not get single dime more due to grade code.
