I believe you get additional vacation & travel days as Bach vs fam. Everything is still on par as far comp & benefits as far as fam vs bach, except no EAP as a Bach. Pretty easy to arrange visits for fam as long u plan a head. However, 6 years is a very long time to be separated. Got think hard if it’s worth the money? I was separated from my fam for about 4 months before they arrived. It was tough!

I have older children and sorting out education has been the toughest part so far. If you have extended family back home then leaving your own family and moving alone can work, but 6 years is way too long and you should carefully consider all factors before making such a big decision.

I agree that long term separation will be tough.

Thanks absvis. You are right, we need to think things through before accepting an offer. The kids have moved countries/schools a number of times and it gets harder on them as they grow older. It’s trickier with the middle schooler who can’t get into boarding yet. Are you considering boarding for your older kids?

For now will be getting them into International schools in KSA. Boarding can be an option but depends if a child is comfortable with the idea of living away from family. You really have to consider all the pros and cons.

If you have any resources or links you can share on the available international schools, that would be helpful. Thank you so much!

You can easily google for schools in Dhahran, Khobar and Dammam area. Aramco own school follow American system.

I was separated from my fam for about 4 months before they arrived. It was tough! There are no additional leave days for bachelor status, that was removed many years ago. You do get double the travel days. Bachelor status for a married person is very difficult. For a few years it is tolerable, but don't plan on putting in 5 or 10 years as it puts a real strain on your relationship.

We have decided that if at all we go Bachelor status, it’ll be for no more than 2 years. Still waiting on the offer, which makes it quite challenging to plan.

Each to their own, but you'd have to be pretty desperate to want to be away from your other half for 2 years, just for a bit of coin. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, unless of course you both need a break!

Agreed. It can become pretty lonely here w/o your fam. Two years may seem doable on paper but it will be tough!
Now, if you’re unemployed and under financial duress than understand got to do what u got to do.
