For now, when new hires arrive in Munirah (Global, not sure about other payrolls), they can choose RAA and move out, or bid to live on camp. If you live on camp, you forfeit your RAA and out of your own pocket for subsidized housing on camp. For more details, you'll have to contact Housing in Mujama once you've arrived.

Great news! thanks for the info. I have been told by AOC that Aramco has not placed any new hires to its own operated compounds for the last 5 years. Does this mean new compounds are in operation or existing compounds have vacancies due to old tennents move-out? Does the allocation depend on GC level, or any other selection criteria?

Allocation can be based on GC and payroll.

Aramco about 2 years ago brought in a change that meant (in general) only new hires that were US nationals woild be offered on camp housing. As always there would have been exceptions but the norm was that you had to take RAA as non- American after that point.
There seems to have been a change recently and they have opened up compound housing as an option but nothing "official" so far as I can see.

Anybody currently living in the Aramco operated compound have some notional comparison to the private compounds on RAA? The private compounds all look fairly new and welcoming, but only tennants know the pros and cons.

Depending on GC and payroll, some new hires / arrivals are moving directly into camp. This is a score if family will be joining.

In terms of appliances, layouts and general upkeep and accessibility to malls etc. Do people who get on camp housing ever end up moving outside or choosing to live off camp ever ? Would appreciate any insights. Thanks !

The accommadation found in compounds outside Aramco are all totally different to each other in terms of accommadation and facilities. Youd need to look at a number to see what suited your needs and interests. Aramco is known for having amazing social opportunities and there are masses on camp - and you probably don't need to leave very often other than to get to the airport if you live there!
I think if you get a camp school, you stay where you are (can't access Aramco schooling if not living on camp). And there are a number of people now who arrived when no camp accomadation was available, and so are on RAA. A small number of people choose RAA over Aramco accommadation. Im sure they exist, but im not aware of people choosing to go the other way (RAA to Aramco) - but that might be down to lack of availability in recent years.

I would be appreciated if you answer following inquiry. If there is no available aramco camp when arrive in Munirah, Only RAA will be applied for entire period or they can register some waiting line? And if reservation (i.e., waiting) is possible, temporary RAA can be provided during that period?

My understanding is that once you receive RAA and move off camp, you have to wait at least 2 years before you can apply to move onto camp, unless Housing approaches you directly.
There is no reservation, it's bidding, once you've been approved.

There has been an update to this. Those who are currently living outside Aramco will continue to receive their RAA however those who live on Aramco Camp and want to move outside will not receive RAA. There is now so much room available between RT, Dhahran and Abqaiq camps that the company will find space for new hires. Basically those Aramco employees who are currently receiving RAA are the last of the Mohicans.

Dear All,
I am currently in the visa application process, will be based in Dhahran with family status and global payroll, hopefully on board in Dec this year. We plan to live outside Aramco Camp thus RAA will be an option. What is current Aramco accommodation rules for new hires?
Many thanks!

The previous post clearly states that RAA will no longer be applied to new hires due to a large amount of housing on Aramco camps. You are free to live wherever you choose - on camp or off camp. However, the RAA element is no longer available to new hires UNLESS your work location is an area with no Aramco housing. So if you choose to live off camp in Dhahran it will be at your own expense.
