T-Mobile is saying they serve SA with 4G service, unlimited data (4G up to 2 GB, then slower unlimited service.) and text, and 20 cents per minute for a call while travelling outside of the U.S., all for a price of $50 U.S. They also allow Netflix, Amazon Rpime Video, HBO GO, etc. without tapping into you 2 GB of data. I guess my question is, how is this deal compared to what you can get if you wait to buy a phone overseas, and second, what is the service like in SA, specifically in Ras Tanura where I will be living soon? Any advice would be great. Still don't understand the whole VPN thing, but I'm trying to learn that as well!

T-Mobile works perfectly fine here pretty much all over KSA. I brought a cheap $100 unlocked phone from BestBuy before coming over and I use that as my local phone with STC. Since I am field based I literally only turn the phone on when I need to make a local call which is maybe once a month. If you have T-Mobile that is the best option by far here in the middle east. It works flawlessly in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha and Bahrain.
