Trying to get some real expectations about the housing. Are there any plans from Aramco of providing more compounds in the future for new hires? What is the expected short-long term for providing more available compounds for employees living off-Aramco compounds?

Yes, I have been told Aramco is looking into leasing other compounds, I do not know which ones or when that will happen. Also the work on the new housing inside Dhahran is continuing. No time estimate on when those would be completed. But people living near the construction say they are working continuously now.

My understanding is that there are no plans to lease additional compounds. Only GC15+ and US payroll will be offered Aramco housing, the rest are offered rental assistance.
The first batch of 600 new family housing units in Dhahran are planned to be ready in 2017 with final batch of 300 complete the year after (inshalla!)

It is my understanding that currently only US payroll are eligible for Aramco housing. It's not a case that the accommodation isn't available, but that it is only available for US hire. Therefore, unless there is another policy change, I don't think you would be able to move onto camp.

Aramco housing is provided to all on US payroll and GC 14+ on Global Payroll, I have been told. I have a friend who is on Global Payroll (GC 15) and is accommodated by Aramco in Rakah. However, I don't personally know of anyone on GC 14 who is accommodated by Aramco.

Again reviving an old thread - has the situation changed?
From what I understand and have been hearing is, if you are on an RAA, it is still possible to move to an Aramco housing but you'll have to be on some sort of waiting list with a point system. Is this correct?
Also what are the benefits of an Aramco housing/compound compared to non-Aramco? Fare enough perhaps a few more perks here and there but is there something really significant? The only one I'm aware of is the Aramco school i.e. your kids can't go to an Aramco school. Also is the Aramco School better than the two British schools (specifically for the British folks as I would prefer my kids go to a British school than an American school (i.e. Aramco School).
Any clarification would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Yamaaan

Yamaaan, even if you are on camp, your kids can go to the Beitish schools. The benefit is the amenities that are on camp and the many activities for your kids and you and your wife that are easily gotten to. There are activities for kids that are not connected to the school system: sports, art, etc. There is bus service that Aramco provides to the International Schools British School at this time. The school is moving, so I do not know if the company will still provide bus service once its moved. Families can share a taxi to either British school if needed.
If you live off camp, you can come into camp with your Aramco ID, but that does not make it convenient for your family when you are working. Your wife will miss out on being able to drive herself and kids to activities. Some wives do get a taxi or private driver to bring them to camp. Pick up the car wherever the husband parked it. Spend the day, then re park the car and catch a taxi/private driver back home to get the kids from school, or ride home with her husband. This constant need of a driver gets old and they could not be available when needed.
Outside compounds do not have the amenities that Aramco compounds have.
I do not know if people on the rental allowance are allowed on the bid list. You would have to check with housing on that. If Aramco assigned you a house in one of their leased properties, then after 2 or 3 years you can get on the bid list, but you will be bidding against people who have a lot more points. Some people never get a home from bidding, others are successful. You can only try and keep trying.
