Hi
Is anyone being contacted to consider a possible change from other compounds to this one. Anyone already made a visit? What are your thoughts and how do you compare the Pearl with your current residency?
Thanks,

My understanding is that a lot of people had visit already. As commented in another post the project will be completed in phases, out of 16 buildings phase one is 2 or 3 buildings, phase 2 3 more buildings, final phase all remaining buildings, estimated completion date end of june. Do I believe this date? not even a pinch, end of the year sounds more likely, but people is going to be moved in anyways.
Every compound has plus and cons. Pearl has 3 bedroom units, which is what "misplaced" families are waiting for. The 4 bedroom are not such, is just like in Radium, two 2 bedroom apt put together, 2 kitchens, 2 laundry closets, 2 entry doors... I think people has to see themselves to have an opinion, for some the most important thing is the size of the unit they receive so Pearl is what they want. For others is the facilities, Radium wins that one over the other "extended" communities (tower, pearl) except for Rakkah, which is a totally different history... I like Radium but can't have my kids sharing a bedroom anymore, if Pearl is offered I will have to take, pros and cons include

detfans I was wondering the following: 1. How complete is Pearl? 2. When will they start moving people in? 3. I thought Pearl was 3 bedroom accomodation only? But you are saying there will be 4 bedroom flats available there too? 4. The 4 bedroom units in Radium- when you say it's 2 flats put together with 2 entry doors, 2 kitchen etc. on the inside they knock the wall down between the flats right? So from the inside its 1 big flat right? 5. Will Pearl not have the same facilities as Radium when it's completed? If not, do you know what the difference in facilities will be?

1. How complete is Pearl? 3 buildings out of 16 are 95% ready to move (need some finishing touches), they said units itself are ready, though. Facilities: only the playground and a multipurpose court. Pool, mini market, salon, gym, long way to go, they said end of May, I think end of June/July. Rest of the buildings between next month and end of June. Call it 70%? My estimation 2. When will they start moving people in? No idea, they said this week, I dont think so because the main water connection was not ready 3. I thought Pearl was 3 bedroom accomodation only? But you are saying there will be 4 bedroom flats available there too? Originally 2 and 3 bedroom units, because of the need of larger units they did what Radium did, merge 2 2-bedroom into 4 bedroom units. 4. The 4 bedroom units in Radium- when you say it's 2 flats put together with 2 entry doors, 2 kitchen etc. on the inside they knock the wall down between the flats right? So from the inside its 1 big flat right? Yes, same in Pearl 5. Will Pearl not have the same facilities as Radium when it's completed? If not, do you know what the difference in facilities will be? So far they mentioned: pools, sports court, nursery (they called KG, don't know yet age of kids they will take), gym, coffee shop, beauty salon, minimarket, laundry service (external). No arcade room was mentioned, nor bowling, cinema, business center, library, travel agency, have to wait and see if they mention those later. Pearl units are larger, more natural light (that is what Radium units lacks the most, and what drives most people crazy, jeje), kitchen and dining room are separated... I like Radium the most, don't mind the natural light issue, but as mentioned, can't have my kids sharing bedroom much longer...

Went to housing office and asked about Pearl. It's 1st move was delayed again and now it will be June 1. I would not bet on it though. Rumor is the sewage or public water issue. I think it's very likely to be further delayed. Certainly hope not as Ramadan will even further push it out.
It will not be like Radium. Pearl is much bigger and kids can run around in the compound. if you get to go there prepare to suffer for the 1st year or more with all the construction and lack of facilities. But eventually with total of 16 buildings I think the facilities should not be too bad.
It will be mostly 3 bedroom units. That is what I heard.
Again the information I gathered is from talking to HR and Housing office people and I can't promise everything is accurate.

Pearl actually looks far away in the horizon... Housing sent an email to some of the eligible families saying to date they still dont have an estimate moving date. My guess is they are trying to say: go, take your summer vacation, there is no way you'll move any moment soon
