Hi there,
I have been offered a position in Ras Tanura, which is great and it appears to be that our accommodation offer will be Dhahran Tower. Now to me that sounds like I will be favced with a long commute back and forward each day. Or maybe its no big deal? Anyone already doing this commute and can pass on their experiences would be greatly appreciated.

It's a bit under an hour from main camp (Dhahran), so my guess is that Dhahran Tower adds maybe 30 minute to that? There are a number of people living in the Tower and in Radium who work in RT - maybe someone in that situation can weigh in with the particulars?

Thanks for the response crazycatlady. 1.5 hrs each way to travel to and from RT is giving me a lot to consider. Myself and wife really need to sit down and figure out if its going to be the right move or not but maybe its not as bad as it sounds and it's a case of just getting on with it....
Would really like to hear from others who can share their experiences of the commute to and from RT?

On foggy mornings the busses will pull off to the side of the highway and wait the fog out. Has taken about 3 hours at least twice this year.

Yes they will - and they should. I used to drive to RT every work day for a year and if the fog was too thick to drive safely, I would always pull off to the side of the road until the fog lifted. Much better that, than to be involved in an accident due to zero visibility.
