whats the best deals on car rental , am assuming i ll need one because of the weather . too hot to walk or bike to get around , work and back and supermarket shopping etc.am going to be staying in Ras Tanura. how much will i expect to be paying ?. looked on line and looked very expensive £550 plus monthly, just wondered if anyone knew what the cheapest was locally to RT ?

Riding a bike would be suicidal. Cannot advise you about car hire but I am trying to get contacts from Rahima training to contact lambretta regarding accommodation, costs etc. if anything materialises I will PM you their contact details ( hope that is ok with the moderators as they would not want their details posted on this forum).

Thanks to those that answered but i think Welshman is right ,as a contractor we arent allowed to enter the aramco compound apart from using the shop on there.Cheers Welshman,i ve been in contact with a trainer already in RT through linked in .H e reckons that the two contractors compounds(not the aramco one which we arent allowed on ) are not the best for the price and it might be advisable to rent an apartment in the town. He has told me that 2500 sar a month,appox 440 pounds should get a decent furnished place(bills all in) but thats sharing .I dont know if thats 440 each or we go halves on that,guess which one i 'm hoping it is . I 've left a post on the thread i started about accomodation in RT to your mate Lambretta if he fancies sharing a place to feel free and get in contact . A bit forward of me i know but needs must,Lol.

Did you not get a car in your job offer?
I think Shamal is confusing Direct Hire with SMP (Contractors) in regards to use of transport, I have friends (SMP) that have been removed from Aramco busses as there was no room for the Aramcons leaving them stranded at the plant. same goes for Flights from Shaybah SMP's get bumped all the time if the flight is full and an Aramcon wants to fly..

When you say RT I assume you mean thr training college at Rahima which is just outside the gates of RT. As I said I don't know what accommodation is like outside of compound but if I get any info I will forward it on. Khobar/Dharhan are at least an hour away. I will try to contact lambretta to see if he seen your post. I believe he is also due here in February. Is your background in operations?
