Hi,
this is what my relocation adviser forwarded me yesterday from Saudi Aramco Personnel regarding shipping.
We are due to arrive at the end of this month and will be shipping everything. No time for us to make other plans at this late stage other than purging as much as we can before heading off.
Hope this is helpful.

threeplus2,
Thanks for starting this thread. It's very informative. I was advised to move to DT, likely in Sept. Could you give some information on the following:
Are the apts facing in one direction or differently? I heard there is one facing that you can see the sun rising from the Gulf. That would be sweet! From the photo at the DT link, the gym equipment seems quite limited. Can we request to add a couple of more? Is there any extra room for that? Are there any treed streets you are walk around the tower? If take the cash-in-lieu option, what's the portable essentials I should pack up in the baggage? such as power converter, etc. Thanks, look forward to meeting you all at DT MS

Been here for a day and from what Insee there is no room for more in the gym. No where to ride bikes around the tower for kids. The pool is pretty nice though. The apartments are well outfitted so definitely cash in lieu. Any small things you need you could buy here, but again it comes with pretty much everything.

Pat1703,
Sounds like your 2 bedroom apartment is not appropriate. Not sure if we can assist you to get that remedied but it's worth making sure you are connecting with the right folks in housing. We want to make sure you are hooked up to the Aramco Residents Cooperative so we can help your wife settle and introduce your kids to some their own ages. There is a bulletin board that has info on DHTARC and contact info for all Directors...as well as info on Facebook page etc. We are planning a back 2 school party of end of month, and lots other events in the works too. Please make sure you get connected. PM me if needed.

o threeplus, Reading through your posts I noticed you said you will be bringing your pets (including a labrador retriever). My 8 yeard old son is crazy for a puppy and he really wanted a labrador. As you will know it is very hard to find puppys in SA so I would like to know if you have already being in touch with other dog owners or if you know how to find a lab puppy here in KSA.
Thank you

Pat1703,
To piggyback off of this, what sort of outdoor space is available for older kids to use for recreation? My boys do like their bikes, but what they are really attached to are their skateboards and frisbees. (They're not fond of swimming at all).

crazycatlady and Pat1703,
There isn't really outdoor space suitable for bikes or skateboards within tower property. Lots of space for that within Dhahran which is 12-15 minutes away by car or one of frequent buses. Most folks here find getting a vehicle is a top priority. Frisbee space is good on grassy area. The corniche is close which would appear to be a good spot for this but my husband had a scary experience being chased on bike by wild dogs so not such a great place after all.

MissingSki and threeplus2,
Hope this answers some of your questions above: The Gulf view is sweet. We are lucky. - others have posted here re gym. I'm no gym expert! Treadmills are great and quiet during day. - we have not walked outside tower grounds. we probably will not. some do but not many. It's sandy, lots garbage, etc. I think it's safe but just not appealing. - power converters are available easily here. The "automatic voltage regulator" is the size of a car battery. Then you plug a small plug converter into that. We run multiple plug power bars off these. - you can buy small appliances here and I kind of wish I'd just sold ours and bought new so we didn't have to use these voltage regulators all the time..... - we did not receive a tower welcome package of essentials because my husband came after one week in Abqaiq, so he brought bachelor package from there. Maybe someone else can list here what is included....and then you can decide what your family would decide is essential. - please feel free to ask more questions here or PM me. good luck with final preparations.we all know it's not easy.
