Hi all,
we are going through our stuff (what to bring etc) and we are a bit unsure about our DVD collection. We have tons of children's DVD's, including the Harry Potter series, and I think we can bring those without any problems?
We both enjoy good crime/action/thriller movies, and I am unsure about a few les. I'd rather give them to friends here than to have them thrown out by customs and pay a fine..
So, question: is there a list of DVD's that are banned? So I can check?
Thank you in advance!

There's no list that I've ever heard of, that is available to expats. Saudi Customs may have a list, I'm not sure. I have brought in DVD's fairly frequently and so far, have not had any checked (or confiscated). As far as fines go, I've never come across that. In the old days, they used to regularly keep videotapes, scan through them, confiscate any they found objectionable and give you the rest back. On one occasion I had a video (Top Gun) that was confiscated but I was not fined and I never heard of anyone else getting fined either.
No guarantees though and they can confiscate anything they want, even if it might seem totally innocuous to you.

vpainter, Could I also get more info on what movies and such we should look not to pack for the move? We were told certain things in Orientation but no one would provide a list to make it easier to sort out. Topic of conversation in our house for sure with teenage kids. Hoping to get a confiscated item list that we can use for movies, music, and general packing if there is such a list. Please advise.
Thanks again.
