Hi there...Hubby has an offer from aramco to work in gas plant (wassat?) Have been told we will be housed in RT. I'm trying to make the biggest decision of my life and am looking for some honest opinions. I would be leaving my eldest sons in the UK (16+18)...16 yr old wants to stay here with bio dad. My hubby see this as a fantastic opportunity for us and I want to be positive and supportive.(secretly terrified). Anyone with any words of advice or experience of being in RT with a small child and how you fill your days would be greatly appreciated. Is it easy to Skype etc to keep in touch with home? Thanks again x

There are many women here who are in your shoes if you come. Their older kids are out to boarding school and college and they have younger kids in KSA with them.
There are quite a few posts already under this discussion group about living in RT with small and school age and teenage children. I recommend you spend time reading them, they will answer your question about on how do women fill their days. There is also a partial list of self directed groups whoch is activities you can choose to participate in.
RT (as are any of the Aramco compounds) is a great place to raise kids. Parents and children can be as active as they desire to be.
If you can handle change and like an adventure, then you can be happy here.
Again, please take the time to read the posts already on the forum. They will answer many questions you may have.

Older children, parents and siblings of husband and wife are allowed to visit.
They could even visit for 3 months if they wanted.

Lived at RT for several years with my family. Kids loved it there. Wife made friends and had to say no to invites for parties and social gatherings. Lots of self directed groups in which to be involved. Skype works to stay in touch back home, but depends on a decent internet connection. Internet anywhere in KSA can be hit or miss depending on where you are living and the conditions in the house.
