So, my husband has been applying and applying for several months and we haven't heard anything until now. Last week, he received an email from a recruiter that stated that he submitted my husband's resume to the specific department for review and if they requested an interview, then the he (the recruiter) would contact him to arrange it. We were SO excited to have some "progress" and for him to even be considered!! Needless to say, we are praying that he gets an interview!!! But, I wanted to know...have any of you had this same experience (recruiter submitting resume to dept. for review)? I've only known people who have applied and then been contacted for an interview. I know everyone's story is different, but just trying to gauge his chances of getting an interview.

I submitted my resume to someone at ASC on Jan. 21st and she forwarded my resume to the correct department that day. On February 3rd I was asked if I was interested in an interview. Hope this helps.

It does, thanks! I've just only known people to submit resume, then be called for an interview. So just trying to see how common it is. Again, thank you for your feedback! Appreciate it VERY much!

Just to clarify ASC is not a recruiter, is the ARAMCO eny that manage the recruitment process. I believe in this case the "correct department" your husband's resume was sent to is ASC, not the actual department that might hire him. Please others can correct me if I'm wrong

Thank you for the information. I may not have used the correct wording or it explained it well. I apologize if I didn't. When I said a "recruiter", I was referring to a man who works for Aramco in Houston as part of their recruiting staff. Not an outside recruiter. So, we thought that meant that his resume was sent to the department which might hire him.

In that case, great! You are on track! Keep hopes up!

So, it has been almost one month since my husband's resume was submitted to the specific department for review and we still haven't heard anything. I have read several timelines on here so I know things typically go very slowly and patience is key. Having said that...since one month has passed, do you think it is fair to say that he will not be contacted for THIS position? Of course, he's going to keep looking and applying. But I wanted to get some feedback and know if you thought that enough time had passed to where he probably would not be contacted for this position. Hope that makes sense.

Advice: If your husband nows the department that received his cv and prospect position he can check the website to verify is named position is still posted. If so, there is a possibility that a few other candidates are been pre evaluated, so it can take a little longer before he gets accurate info. If not, there is a chance (a chance, not fact) that department is moving in other direction regarding candidates, or, lets hope for this one, the process is just taking a long time. I did what mentioned. Recruitment agency (external) contacted me, said will submit cv to management, waited 2 weeks, checked the site and position was no longer posted, 6 days later I got the call for interview. As you said, patience, patience, patience.

I am reviewing resumes all the time, and if I find someone's experience doesn't match our needs but might fit well in another department, I forward it through HR. Others do the same for me. So the department you apply to sees the resume first, but it may well be routed to others.

Thank you. I am in a similar situation, I applied for a job on the Aramco website and was told by one of my friends that my resume was on the desk of the guy running the department BUT HR was the one who was making the first selection to see if my profile matched the requirements... It has been a while since I applied but again I heard it takes 'forever', at least eight months before getting a call. Now three questions: 1. is this correct that HR is the first one to decide whether you should be considered for an interview? 2. Do you ever get a 'rejection' email? 3. Is there any way to follow up on the status of an application? Thank you...

Vex, 1. I believe the department with the open position that you applied for will see your resume first, unless the position has already been filled, in which case it might be forwarded to another department. HR are the ones sending me resumes to review, but I don't have much visibility into what happens before I see the resume, or after I recommend forwarding it. 2. I don't know if we send rejection emails for resumes, since they can be 'resurected'. I'm pretty sure that HR sends rejection notices if you're not selected after an interview (face to face, video or telephone). 3. There's no way I know of for someone external to follow up an application. It's not even that easy internally . Note: My feedback is valid for my area only. Aramco is a big company, and hires teachers, secretaries, geologists, refinery engineers and helicopter pilots (etc., etc.). It's likely that the interviewing/hiring process will be handled very differently for those respective positions. Wutz

Suz,
Also do a search on the forum for timeline. You will find the timeline for each step of the process and how every time line is different - some short, some long, some even longer. All are normal. Waiting a month can be nothing in the overall look at the process.
Just keep up the patience.

Hi Suz,
I applied for the Paralegal position a month ago and haven't heard back on that either.
Am waiting right with you!
