My wife (medical staff) and I (engineer) consider working for Aramco after I have a job offer (verbally) from Aramco during my visits to Dhahran. She also finds a vacant position in her specialty in Aramco-Dhahran hospital. We would like to know about Aramco's policies about dual-career couples. If both of us go through the interview process, does Aramco usually support dual-career couples? For example, we have kids and need to work and live in the same location (i.e. Dhahran camp) and start/end our employment contracts together. In addition, are American female employees common in Aramco hospitals? In advice, thank you very much.

Wives are not hired for jobs until they have arrived in the kingdom. They will not interview her prior to coming if you are interviewing. Another couple had both applied online recently, once Aramco knew the husband was being interviewed, they canceled the wife's interview.
If your wife is a nurse, she will not be able to get a job as a nurse. Aramco has not hired wife nurses for over 10 years now. My guess is it was causing a problem with staffing, the working wives are granted the same vacation time as their husbands. That may have led to lack of staff being available for patients.
Other types of medical staff may be able to get a job after arrival. You should not come expecting her to get a job. Many women who want to work do, but some do not ever get jobs.

I am so glad to get some feedback on this, My husband and I also work full-time currently. He has been given offer and excepted with Saudi Aramco as a corporate trainer, I am an RN and would love to continue practicing once there in Saudi Arabia. Can i apply with an international agency( meaning not through Saudi Aramco) ? i am also pursuing my masters degree and will need to have a place to do clinical hours and obtain preceptor-ship eventually. although I am looking forward to not working full time, I would like to know I have the option to work if i wanted to maybe on a prn(as needed) basis, not full time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you could get your credentials approved and work in other hospitals in the local area. You would not be guaranteed vacation time the same time as your husband at these non- Aramco hospitals.
Now that John Hopkins is running the medical facillities here and doing the hiring, you should try to get a job with the Aramco facillities as well. They might hire you, where Samso would not. Never hurts to try.

My case is similar, I am an Engineer & my wife is a Teacher. I just got a e-mial from my recruiter informing me SA is working on a offer for me. But I am wondering will SA support if my wife interviews for Teacher roles in Jan 2015 or is there a restriction on Teachers similar to nurses as mentioned by vapainter?

No, no restrictions on wives working as teachers for Aramco. She can visit the school administration office and apply for a teaching position.

Resurfacing this topic since I haven’t seen recent commentary on it. I’m expecting to soon be offered a position at Aramco. Knowing approximately what the offer will be, it doesn’t quite make financial sense to accept with my wife’s loss of income.
My recruiter suggested my wife could potentially find a position with Aramco in her chosen field, which would make the situation much more attractive to our family and warrant a move from the US. She had an interview months ago, with no follow up and we’re still in the dark about her prospects.
I know she would only be hired as “local” or “casual” but does anyone have a similar experience of attempting to get both spouses hired simultaneously and before moving to KSA? Would she only be considered for a position after landing in KSA? How do I find if her profession is limited for casual hires in KSA?
Ideally I would want assurances of her employment before we move from the States, but not sure if that’s possible. Anyone heard of that happening?

Can't comment too much on the prospects depending on her skills etc, but one thing I can guarantee is, there will be no assurance of her employment unfortunately.

Concur. Additionally, there is no such thing as “causal hire” at Aramco anymore. Spouses either get hired as a regular expat employee salaried w/benefits or hired through Aramco contractor then would be a contract employee for Aramco.
If you’re holding out to see if your wife gets hired on at Aramco or guys will get some package deal, highly unlikely and your offer will expire. If she sees Aramco job postings, that she believes she is compeive for by all means keep applying. Best to make your decision to come knowing your wife may not get employed but could possibly.

I have my pulse on Aramco expat hiring needs. If you briefly share you wife’s background (experience, skill set and education), I can give an assessment of her chances of getting hired. PM that info, if u prefer.

Thanks Kyle and jrs. I thought that was probably the case. Interesting to hear that it’s possible for spouses to be hired with full benefits. Do you know of any cases where this has happened? Would it require transition from a family to work visa for my wife?
We are both interested in making the move, but it has to make sense financially and career-wise. She has a senior role now and a lot of experience, so doesn’t want to give that up to not work for a prolonged period.

This just started in recent years but is rare. Before the spouse was hired as a causal, which was just salary & no benefits. They didn’t allow both husband & wife to get benefits & expat premium. The causal hire has gone away. However, most of the spouses I know that work for Aramco are contractors with good salary but no benefits. In all the cases I know of including my wife’s contract job with Aramco, the spouse was hired several months to years after arriving and applying. I personally don’t of any case of couples being hired at the same time or close together outside of school teachers. I’ve been here for nearly seven years.

In either case, Aramco employment or contract the spouse would require a work visa and the spouse would be sponsored by Aramco or contractor. She would not be a dependent on your residence visa. This causes no issue with Aramco family status or housing. She would still be dependent as far as Aramco HR benefits.
