i am looking for information such as dimensions, layout, floor plans etc in DH, RAKKA, and ABQAIQ. no preference to format, PDF/Photos etc.
i am familiar with the saudi/gulf/arab customs. the info i am looking for offends no one.
employees joining the company, and have passed all contingencies, should be able to access relevant info to ANY compound. assigned housing can change depending on availability and on arrival, and especially now as we all know.
thank you Hadia and GW. really no hard feelings. not an issue at all.

OMG, they are nice but not modern. I am just comparing it with my current flat in the down town of the city I live in. It seems that I can't compare as this is not the capital or major city like Riyadh or jeddah....etc. In conclsuion, someone should know that they life will be not like living in Houston, Dubai or Paris ..etc , am I right ?
cheers

You are not going to Houston, Dubai or Paris. You are coming to Saudi Arabia.

Thanks for the info Vpainter. I have a number of questions for you. I am currently working as a contractor in Aramco, but i'm in the process of being converted to an Aramcon. I've been told by HR that I will most likely be placed in the new aramco compound in Rakkah. Here are my questions, 1) Would I be able to go there and tour the place? And if so, would you or anyone else in here be able to provide the directions? 2) I have a small family, just me, my wife and kid. Would we get a smaller size home there, or would it be the same as the larger families? The reason I ask is because I heard everybody gets the same size home regardless of family size. 3) What are some of the amenities there? Will there be a grocery story? Movie theater? Gym? Bowling ally? Basketball courts? Parks? etc. etc. Sorry for the bombardment of questions. Thats it for now . Your answers are much appreciated.

1. You can talk to housing, they can let you tour it. You have to have someone sponsor you onto the compound. That is the one compound an Aramco ID will not get you admitted.
2. All the houses in Rakkah are 2375 sq ft all 3 BR.
3. Commissary run by LuLu's, 2pools - one with diving boards and other a lap pool plus a kiddy pool with covered areas. Library - connected to all Aramco libraries, restaurant and coffee shop run by the Carlton. Exercise gym, racquetball and squash courts, astro turf football(soccer) field, basketball court, tennis courts, auditorium that will show movies, barber shop, mail room, bank - ATM, bowling alley, playground. All I can think of at the moment without my notes.

vpainter: I have read on this forum that because Dhahran is full ALL American families will be placed in Rakkah. Is this true no matter what level you are? Just trying to figure out if we will be placed in Rakkah or Abqaiq.
Thank you!

Nomads4life, it is my understanding that housing assignments will be made on the basis of availability at the time of arrival. That means it depends on which type home you are eligible for depending on GC and number of children or no children, when you are scheduled to arrive housing will check where a home is that has completed renovations (houses are renovated between each resident - new paint, flooring and appliances as needed). They will first try to place you where you will be working, and then the next option, etc.
After a 2 year stay in your assigned house, you can sign up for the bid list and bid in a home where you work. Note, you cannot bid on a home in a camp where you do not work.

Thanks guys.

The distance "as the crow flies" from the compound entrance to Dhahran Main Gate is 6.7 miles.
The coordinates for the compound are:
26°23'2.25"N, 50°12'58.70"E
If you copy and paste those coordinates into the Google Earth search bar, it will find the compound.

GroveWanderer, Thank you, it was an awesome effort. Here is my case, I do not expect an official word but potential outcomes based on your experience,
On my Offer WKST, wok day location: DH Work Location: DH Days off residence: DH
I accepted my offer on July 9th, can I expect to be placed as mentioned on offer DH main compund? Is Rakkh considered as a part of Dharan compound, and called "Dhahran"?

You could be placed in either Dhahran Compound based on availability of the house type you qualify for, which is based on GC and number of children (includes 0 children), at the time of your arrival. Housing is usually assigned the week of your arrival.

BeaumontTX, the compound is right down the street from the Dhahran International Exhibition Center. You can google it for location and you would be very close to the compound location.

Thanks vapinter, it helps.
I hope to get it in DH as mentioned on my offer letter but let's think about worst case: We have 2 kids, my son will be in pre-k. Do they have to commute to DH camp for schooling? Will there be pick and drop for kids, as my wife is not allowed to drive outside? It seems close but someone mentioned it may take appox 25-35 minutes, is it crowded or too many street light? Does Aramco identify Rakkh seperately or as a part of Dhahran camp, mean both comes in "dhahran" housing?
