o! My husband was invited for a second interview (different department) and we are yzing once again the possibility to change our lives and move to Saudi Arabia! Regarding adaptation to the culture and way of living we think that it wouldn't be a problem for us and our kids. The questions that always remain are related to the job and the company: - we would both leave our current jobs and companies to take the risk that in the near future if things go wrong with Aramco we are both unemployed and with kids to take care of. - how shure is Aramco that the person they are hiring is the person they need? - what about probation period and compensations for early contract termination? - does Aramco invest in New Hires training and competences devolepment?
What are your thoughts/experience on the above subjects?
We went through some posts that gave us the idea that in the last Year some New Hires were being sent home during probation...
Thank you all for your opinions!

The leaving jobs bit was a concern for me as well ... we can manage with the lose of one income but the lose of two is a problem. Our plan ( if i get hired) was to give it the probation period Until we decided for the family to move. My wife wants to teach anyway ( we both have PHD's ) so It should be easier for her to find a teaching position once in country ( if she wants to ) Worse case is that i dont make it thru the probation period and we're not hurting our family in the process.

A lot of employees choose to come over alone, then have their family come once they get settled in. Yes, being away for a few months can be rough, but it makes leaving easier if you decide this isnt for you.
- how shure is Aramco that the person they are hiring is the person they need?
Aramco invests a lot of time and money to get you here. It is very rare for people to arrive and then be let go during their probation. It does happen, but its usually do to misconduct/misrepresentation on the employees part (not always).
- what about probation period and compensations for early contract termination?
No idea, perhaps Vpainter could answer this one.
- does Aramco invest in New Hires training and competences devolepment?
I cant speak for other departments, but I know medical spends a lot of time and money sending us to classes for both ongoing and new education.

First of all, thank you for your replies! Me staying here with the kids while probation period is going on is a possibility... We read the posts about probation and scared us a lot, and the questions about aramco hiring the person right for the job poped out! We know the culture is different and like in other company, one must go by the rules.
Once again thank you, and fingers crossed!

probation and early termination compensation. It has happened so rarely, I don't know the answer to this one. They move you back, but do not know if you get any monetary compensation.

Thank you vpainter! For now let's see how the interview will work out... Like we read before we must be patient and walk through this journey step by step. Hopefully we will worry when times comes and if it comes. . . Once again thank you for your posts!

My husband went to the interview, a month after, he was asked to do a second interview (videoconference) now let's see how this one works out! It is the same department. This is he's third interview, the first one was a year and three months ago. I've seen a lot of posts but i feel so insecure about the ones about probation! We are a family of four( kids 5 and 12), we both work in strong companies, the big problem is we live in Portugal, as years went by due to the ecnomic crises, our life quality is decreasing and our kids future is largely at stake. Aramco as seen in the forum, would be an escape from all this madness, with the possibility of good savings(now is impossible), good education for the kids with good future prespectives of work(now here is impossible too, at least to the holdest one), good vacations(impossible too)... Am i wrong? Cold you give me your opinions please? Thank you all

I would strongly recommend for your husband to come here first (if he receives the offer) and wait for the 90 days probation to be over before making arrangements for you and the kids to come over. Refer to the thread by gbradford on porbationary period issues and advise.

Thank you azraeil! It's a possibility, and on other posts some said that they only could bring family after probation period! I guess this thing about probation period is becoming a big issue for many like us! I don't know how this will end up, but since we're one step ahead, the ifs and becoming more often on our coversations about aramco and our possible journey! My big point in the question is to get opinions from you that already are in SA, maybe you know more about the subject from experience than us with a lot of ifs poping from our head!
Thank you once again!

You have 6 months (180 days) after you arrive to bring your family over to keep your family status. So after the probationary period, you should have 3 extra months to bring them over. I would recommend bringing them over after the probationary period to minimize the risks taken in coming over here and based on latest developments as can be seen in the thread mentioned previously.
