Hi,
I have been contacted by SA for an interview for a position in the South Ghawar Producing Department, & from what I can gather on the internet, it seems as UDH would be the compound assigned for working in this area. Could someone please confirm if I am correct in my thinking?
Also, we have 11 & 14 y.o. kids, and it seems as though the UDH compound is much smaller & more remote that the other SA compounds, so I'm a little worried about a possible lack of activities for the wife & kids in UDH. Could someone please comment on their experience living in UDH, & maybe how the amenities/activities compare to other SA compounds? I would also like to know about off compound activities in this area, such as places to go on weekends, beaches, etc.
This would be a huge change for our family, so I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible, so that I could make a well informed decision, should an offer be extended.
Thanks in advance for any information!

I have sent you a UDH contact. Let me know if you did not receive it.

Hi,
We are in the same position as DOSUMPIN. We have two teens 15 & 17 who will be making the move with us. My husband's offer letter shows family status living and working in Udhailiyah.
I am worried about schooling for them as they are high schoolers. Does anyone living in Udhailiyah have any suggestion to this issue?

I live in Udhailiyah, but my children are all young. For me, there are plenty of activities to stay busy. I am busy with my kids a lot, but recreation is always having events. There is some sort of event/activity almost every day this month. Some examples of the events/activities this month are: water games, coloring compeion and movie, free bowling, community walk, community iftar dinner (free for all residents) with gathering in the park afterwards for the children with DJ, games, activities, free food, and refreshments.
The women's group doesn't hold meetings or events during July and August, but during the rest of the year, they have 2 coffee morning each month in addition to at least 1 other event or activity.
There are also a lot of other self-directed groups which you can join. And, you can take the shopper buses and spend the day in Dhahran/Khobar or Al Hasa.

It's good to hear from someone who actually lives in Udhailiyah. Thank you for the response. It makes it less frightening to know someone who lives there.
By the way, are there families with teens that are about my children's age who live in the compound. If there are, how are they faring with regards to schools for their high schoolers?
