Question about Aramco offer

Postby aspendoc » Sun Jun 30, 2013 10:12 pm

I interviewed in Houston 6/18. I was asked for copies of certificates etc prior to the interview and submitted them to the recruiter in Houston. I had the interview with a director who flew in from KSA. I got a Email from the Houston recruiter, he quoted an Email he received from someone that I assumed works in HR in Dhahran stating that the director is asking me to submit my certificates in order for an offer to be extended.
I originally thought that ASC in Houston will draft the offer. Can any one please tell me if offers come from Aramco in Dhahran or from ASC in Houston.
Thanks.

The offer comes from your department in KSA through ASC in Houston.

Aspendoc, are you a physician (or in the medical field) ?. Your offer will come from SAMSO, the medical branch of Aramco. ASC is mainly a recruiting service for the company and there tends to be a lot of duplications. Also, I sent you a private message.

Thanks Vpainter and Twofeets. The recruiter at ASC confirmed what mentioned. He stated that there is an authorization letter for an offer in the file now. Will switch to waiting mode and see what happens.
Hey Twofeets; Yes I am a physician & thanks for the PM. I cannot reply to your PM as I am new here, here is my Email: aspendoc2@gmail.com. Please send me your Email.
Thanks

Is it true that SAMSO offers generally take much longer than other Aramco sections ?
I am truly worried as I have another opportunity in Saudi that I might lose if I wait for Aramco for too long.
Thanks

Since Aramco offers and hiring process can take up to and over a year. I think Samso falls right in that timeline somewhere.

Although, Johns Hopkins International is taking over the management of our medical facilities, hiring may be slowed by that transition, but also may not be.

There was a question asked by filing a report on my post. Sorry whomever that was, there is no responsing to reports.

Question was it has been over a year is there any hope. The answer is yes, some people have received an offer much later. But if you are interested in working for Aramco, I would suggest that you re-apply for any position you feel you are qualified for. The next application may go to a completely different group and an offer could come sooner.

Best of luck!

Re: Question about Aramco offer

I feel for my fellow medical/dental provider regarding the mysterious changes that will happen after the initiation of the new John Hopkins Aramco joint venture.

My interview in Houston went very well in September for a consultant position in my specialty within dentistry. I was verbally told to expect something within couple of weeks. My recruiter emailed me yesterday and said the department has asked for an offer to be extended to me, however the offer will not be sent until January after the official initiation of the new entity (John Hopkins Saudi Aramco Medical Service)

I asked if the new entity is considered independent regarding employment, or if Aramco is still the employer, he said the employer for new medical hires will be the new venture, but he isn't sure who is going to handle benefits and payroll. He isn't even sure if housing and schooling will be provided at Aramco camp/schools, not to mention the pay scale at the new venture might be different than what is usually offered by Aramco to Americans!

I'm in a very tough situation because I was planning on leaving my current position anyway in the near future and accept an offer I already have from another major hospital which is awaiting my acceptance. I was willing not to take the existing offer because I know Aramco provide un-matched superb benefits, but now I'm thinking maybe I should accept the other offer since the new entity may not have the same benefits of working for Aramco after all.

Any advice/recommendations out there?

Since it is a new venture and has not started yet. I am not sure anyone will be able to give you the answer to details you need. I recommend you do what is best for your family with what you know. There are no guarantees for anything else.

The Americans were told that if they dont decide to sign with JH then they will probably be given a 3 month pay check and sent home. JH will not offer the 5 year pension that Aramco offers. (thats what a lot of americans were looking for by coming here in the first place)
On the plus side the JH offer should be pretty good and it should be 2 to 3 yrs judging by there track record in other countries, but after that a low ball offer because they would have replaced what they needed to. (look at the kuwait deal) Aramco is a pretty good company to work for. if you would like to know more feel free to PM me.
