adult children insurance, divorce laws

Postby Lesliean » Sat Jun 19, 2010 12:25 am

Hi,
Two more questions:

Our 18 and 21 year old in the us in college would be covered till age 26 by our american company insurance. Are they covered by Aramco?

Do divorces in Aramco go by Saudi law, ie-he can divorce her, she can't divorce him, or by your country of origin law? What happens to joint owned property?

Thanks
Lesliean

You cannot file for divorce in Saudi, you will need to do that in your country of origin.

Aramco provides health insurance to kids from a divorce provided you have sole or joint custody of them OR there is a court order requiring you/your employer to provide health insurance for them (usually until they are 18), for example take a look at the standard Texas divorce decree text online.

Thanks TheDude,

I was unclear. Do our children who remain in the states to go to college get covered by Aramco health insurance? I read everything posted on it and know there is an expat insurance for an additional 150 a month, but does it cover ADULT children in college? Ours are 18 and 21 and in college. Would need our health coverage till age 25 or 26 (new universal covers till 26, if repelled the current coverage goes till 25.

And I'm greatly relieved by the divorce laws. Just good to know women in the compound are covered legally.
Thanks,
Leslie

Yes, in your case the children will be covered until 25 (maybe 26 in the future), but they have be enrolled in full-time education and should not have other medical insurance etc.

Aramco insurance covers your children until they are 25. They do not have to be students, they just cannot be employed full-time or married.

The point of the parent having life insurance is that this will protect the child until they are old enough to support themselves or are supported by a spouse.
