We actually consolidated some of the outdated forums to make it easier to follow...Change takes time to get used to, but we thought these changes made for a better experience, more organized. Easier to put posts in a place that makes sense. The Frequently Asked Questions section has been much-needed...

Re: # of Children

I know one American family that came here with five kids, but that required an out-of-policy (OOP) exception, and they had to wait for available housing in order to get here. They were very lucky to get a house. There just aren't that many 4 and 5 bedroom houses available and considering that DH and...

Re: WATER CHECKS IN RAS TANURA

They do these checks from time to time. Some residents have taken it upon themselves to re-plumb the water lines inside their house to force sweet water through the raw water pipes. This is a violation of Aramco rules and procedures. If they discover that a resident has re-plumbed their home in viol...

Re: Bahrain

Several folks joining the protests (American, according to several articles) decided to get a tourist visa on arrival and then joined the protests. They were arrested and deported back to America, and the next day, the immigration rules changed to prohibit others from doing the same thing...Too many...

Re: VISA FOR DUBAI

If you are American, do NOT get the GCC visa on arrival in Dubai as it is unnecessary and will cost you...Americans can get a visa on arrival FREE of charge. The people at the visa counter (bank) insisted that Americans residing in Saudi were required to get a GCC visa. We left the line and just ent...

Re: 3 weeks in Steineke - practical tips?

I also use Capital One credit cards because they do not charge any foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the US. Depending on how much you use the card, this could save you lots of $$.

Negative comments are perfectly welcome here. Search the forum and I'm sure you'll find many comments that do not tow the 'company line' here. Re: stmayo11 and vpainter

Hello Chikano, Compound life is not for everyone. Although there are plenty of negatives of being here, for me and my family, the positives right now outweigh the negatives. We love having the ability to travel to really neat places on this side of the world. If I were still in the US, I would never...

Re: Company car

That would not be something your relocation advisor would have anything to do with. It depends on your specific position within your department and whether or not your job requires you to do outside work requiring travel. Some departments have quite a few cars for use of their employees, while other...

Re: Where to get 110V or is Aramco really going to 220?

Hello Twofeets, It appears as though you took my use of the word 'fuss' personally. There has been a bit of 'buzz' about this topic, and perhaps my use of the word 'fuss' would better have been expressed had I used the word 'buzz'. No harm was intended by my use of that word. I completely understand...
